Acupuncture Treatment This Holiday Season

Acupuncture Treatment This Holiday Season

There are alternative ways to deal with holiday stress. ☃️🌲🎄 Acupuncture this holiday season! Somehow we always manage to forget how physically and emotionally draining the holidays can be.

Acupuncture is a simple, yet effective treatment that can restore you to your best self, giving you the strength and energy you need to enjoy the holidays. Acupuncture has been used for over 3000 years in Traditional Chinese Medicine and has impressive effects on patients.

The eastern philosophy of Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses a holistic and complimentary approach to treating the body. It’s a great tool in “preventive” medicine, and not simply just a solution and is a great addition to the rest of your health and wellness practices.

Ways that acupuncture can help you during the holiday season and winter:

Preparing for the Holidays by Finding Balance

One way to mitigate the effects of the emotional and physical holiday season is to get your body balanced before the stress begins. Acupuncture restores the flow of energy along the meridians to its proper measure so that we can feel at peace and healthy before the times of stress. Treating your body and mind before problems arise is the best way to prepare for the holidays.

Stress Management

One minute we are trying to make our way through the crowds, shopping for that one particular gift that was sold out at the last ten stores. The next we are rushing to finish dinner on time for our extended family, which surprisingly includes the long-lost cousins who showed up out of the blue. Then someone brings up politics. No matter who you are, the holidays can get stressful fast. Whatever your holiday arrangements, acupuncture can help you deal with the stress that you feel this time of year.

Pain Relief

Nothing can stop the holiday spirit in its tracks like pain. Activities of the season, like shopping and traveling, can aggravate pain. Acupuncture is a non-invasive, drug-free way to deal with any pain issues that may arise, including sciatica, osteoarthritis, and migraines.

Energy Replenishment

Your family has finally gone home. You’ve cleaned up all the wrapping paper and washed all the dishes. It’s time to get things back to normal. Booking an acupuncture appointment is a great way to rejuvenate your body and mind and help you get back to your routine.

Boost Immune System

Acupuncture has been shown to boost the immune system, which helps prevent colds, the flu and other illnesses that are more common in winter months.

In TCM theory the first line of defence is the wei qi.  This is qi energy that circulates just beneath our skin and regulates sweating and immunity. It is dependent on lung function and controls the opening of pores on the skin.  It keeps pores closed preventing disease factors getting into our bodies. Long before viruses and bacteria were recognised as pathogens which cause disease, TCM doctors referred to pathogenic factors.  These they interpreted as environmental, wind, cold, heat and damp. This theory was based on careful observation and to this day we naturally understand it; if we sweat in a cold wind our pores are open and it is easy to catch a chill or cold.  A cold wind on our back or neck can cause a stiff neck or shoulder and excess heat or sun can cause heat stroke.

A healthy balanced body has a strong and effective immune system. All the things that leave us feeling run down, tired lethargic or depressed will lower immunity and compromise how our bodies response to pathogens.

If you have any questions folks, feel free to reach out! Happy holidays from my family to yours.
